About 2 kilometers northeast of Sacsayhuaman lie the ruins of Qenco, a word which means zig-zag, or "twisting channels." It is an eroded limestone outcrop, all arranged to cleverly use the rock's natural shape.
Qenco was a shrine, and there are caves where the mummies of lesser royalty were kept in niches along with gold and precious objects. The quarries are close by.
Our guide told us that a kind of "magic" liquid to dissolve solid rock was invented by the ancient Peruvians. Could the "Fire Rods of the Gods" have been laser beam tools to cut the stone?
